What I love about being a midwife is that I get to bring my whole self to every visit, every birth, every family I work with. I'm able to integrate body, mind and spirit into my midwifery practice.
I work to inspire the same for my clients. In preparing for childbirth, I encourage mothers and their families to be knowledgeable, to practice body awareness and to strengthen and maintain their spirituality.
I find that those who are able to nurture these aspects of themselves, have more resources to call upon when venturing into the unknowns of labor.
I cover all of this and more in my childbirth class which is included in my care.
The following is a brief list of what can be expected in my care:
Complete prenatal care: including hour long visits, nutrition recommendations, comfort measures, some lab work, listening to the baby's heartbeat and checking for adequate growth.
Labor and Birth support: including checking maternal vital signs, providing comfort measures, encourage birth in whichever position you choose, assisting the mother or partner in catching the baby if desired, performing a newborn exam, monitoring blood loss, and handling emergencies should they arise.
Postpartum care: including breastfeeding support, the newborn screen, and weight checks for baby.
If you would like to learn more about my services, call, text or email me to set up an interview. At this meeting we will discuss more details to see if we are a good fit for each other.
