Childbirth preparation is so very important.
It can be overwhelming to sort through all the information and studies available, as well as learn about the constantly-changing healthcare technology. A great deal of time is spent preparing for what to expect.
How do we prepare for the unexpected? It's impossible to know all the twists and turns a birth will take. But if a woman has resources within her that she can call upon during the unknown, she will be able to navigate this journey and cross the threshold into motherhood with more confidence.
Birthing From Within ® childbirth classes go hand in hand with her new book Ancient Map for Modern Birth by Pam England. These classes make the perfect adjunct to any hospital class, or for those choosing to birth at home or in a birth center.
Because these prenatal classes are tailored to the needs of the participants, not all classes carry the same content. Here is a list of some of the topics covered in most classes:
How labor works
How to build a pain-coping mindset
Positions in labor
Getting medical info and making decisions
When to call the midwife / go to the hospital
"Losing it" in labor
Having a Cesarean in awareness
Placenta: birth and customs
Welcoming your baby
Making a postpartum plan
