Midwifery Care, Monitrice Services
& Childbirth Education
Serving the greater Denver area
Home birth only skipped one generation in my family, and that was mine. My parents were both born at home, my mother with a midwife and my father was delivered by his own grandmother. My children were both born at home under the care of a registered midwife. There is something to be said about the art of midwifery, not only has the knowledge and practice been handed down from grandmother to mother, but we now have modern science to help light the way. Blending ancestral knowledge with modern medicine has made giving birth at home, safer than ever before.
What if you are planning to birth in a hospital or birth center, and would like to labor at home for as long as possible, but you don’t know when to go to the hospital, or you are afraid you will have waited too long. Introducing the Monitrice. A french word which means to monitor. But a monitrice does more than just monitor, she is a midwife while in your home, monitoring you and your baby, helping to guide you and your partner through early labor. She helps decide when to go, and goes with you to the hospital or birth center. Once there she stays on as your doula, providing continuity of care.
Taking a childbirth class is one of the best things you can do for yourself before giving birth. Giving birth today isn’t like how it used to be. There is so much to learn and many important decisions to be made. It doesn’t matter if you are planning on getting an epidural or planning a home birth, building the right mindset and knowing what to expect will put you ahead of the game.
